A Call for Civility - Part II

How we react to bad manners demonstrates our maturity; our ability to deal with an ever-escalating level of rudeness is proportional to the value we place on relationships, as well as our desire to avoid conflict. The following are three more of the sixteen points we have identified as Civility Challenges:

 

  • Random shootings, street crime, police brutality, religion and politics - are going in the wrong direction.
  • Once wonderful traditions such as the family dinner hour and actually "dressing" are being abandoned.
  • People disagree disrespectfully and insult others personally thereby, lowering their own standards.

    How do you approach these conditions? At PCI we feel that each of us has a responsibility to move the pendulum back toward civil behaviour. Your thoughts and comments will help us approach a "Day of Civility."
